F1 C Multiplayer troubles

by Darf » Tue, 19 Aug 2003 00:27:56

I have found that anybody can connect, via the internet to my machine using
Multiplayer if the game is announced.
If they try to connect using my IP address, if the game is unannounced, they
cannot connect to my machine, or even find the game.
I can connect to another machine using their IP but it doesn't work when
people try to connect to me.
I am using Norton Internet Security but have disabled it on both ends,
(client and server) to no avail.
I am running Windows XP, and have made sure that the XP firewall is disabled
both ends as well, still no joy.
I have also found that while hosting a game, I cannot boot nuisance players.
Is this an F1 C problem?
Has anyone got any ideas?

are you using a router?

I am not 100% sure what a router is, I believe it to be a PC that is used on
the net or a network, used for the direction of Data / email.
If this is what you are referring to then the answer is no.
My P.C. is just connected to my ISP Via a USB cable modem.
It is also connected via a LAN to 2 other PCs in my house.
Hope this helps with your diagnosis :-)

Make sure you have only one ethernet card enabled on the host machine.

Jason.
