I am in the same boat only a little worse off.
I preordered my copy. When this whole aggravating situation reared its
ugly head, I called Sierra and they said it was shipped on the 3rd.
Those customer service reps are either lying their butts off or are
themselves in the dark. They had the nerve to tell me that 2nd day air
UPS is actually 3 to 5 business days. I told them what they were full
of and obtained a UPS tracking number. Called UPS and they said it was
shipped on the 6th at 5:32pm California time and that I would receive
the package on Tuesday the 10th. Thoroughly irritated I called Sierra
back to determine when I would get my refund when I refused the
shipment. They had the nerve to tell me I was still going to have to
pay for the shipping! Finally got hold of a supervisor that assured me
there would be no such charge and the refund would be in 7 to 10 days.
Then the most tragic thing happens; Best Buy etc. etc are sold out.
The only place that has it is CompUSA and they won't honor Best Buy's
price unless Best Buy has it in stock (they called while I was standing
there!). Amazingly enough ( ;) ) the order from Sierra doesn't show
up today and UPS (called just for kicks) has no idea where it is.
"We'll put a trace on it" What an absolute fiasco.
I think all of us (formerly dedicated consumers) have learned that in
the corporate culture of sheer volume counts and the little guy gets the
shaft, that we will never again preorder, at least from Sierra. I hope
all of you that preordered out there, send it back and make them eat the
shipping.
By the way, to all those that thought I'd be eating crow, crow burgers,
crow pie or whatever - GOTCHA!!!!
