Really.

If someone wants to make Daytona and drive around in it, that should be
their
bussiness. I'm sure the line would be drawn if they try to sell it an make
$$$ from it. That would not doubt hurt Sega and infringe the license. Even
distributing it on the internet may not be that great. But if someone
wanted to
make a track & use it at home and make not $$$ on it, that ought to be OK.

Right...

I believe it would be illegal to make the track & have someone sell it.

This is what I am doing. But I just do not see some of your points. I
believe the difference is whether you sell  your track & take $$$ from
Sega. IMHO Sega's licensed use of Daytona is a joke.

Jim Sokoloff's very informed reply to this (sunday) sums up the
situation very well.  As far as the bidding/licensing situation, I am
not fully aware of all the details.  But my sense of it is that if it
were within our means to bring Daytona to the customers, we would.
Licensing (particularly with respect to the Daytona track) is neither a
simple nor straight-forward issue.  If it were to become possible in the
future, Papyrus would love to include Daytona, as Jim pointed out.

It is not so much a matter of cost, as it is a matter of availability -
and
right now, the rights aren't available, for whatever reason.

Hi Jim,

I why just wondering why does SEGA doesn't want to let you release a
Daytona 500 track.  Do they have a little vendetta on you ??.  Do they
want some big bucks that you can affort ?.  If yes so SEGA doesn't have
any non-sense.  It's not because SEGA is big and strong that they can do
some idiot things to little compagnies like you.  Maybe Sierra will have
the guts (and the money :-]  ) to be able you release the track.
Because I know that you have the track for N2 in your office, or it's in
a mid-final phase.  You're just waiting for SEGA to use their brain and
say "Hey, those Papyrus guys want's to do the REAL Daytona track.  Good
idea!"to release it.  Hope I'm not going to far in my opinions.  It is
just that Papyrus is just to small to be able to get the Daytona/Indy
track.  Small doesn't not mean bad.  Sometimes little are better then
big ones (SEGA :-[   ).  But that's how the world turn's.  Don't stop
your magic work Papyrus,
Thanks a lot,

Good race at the Brickyard, (Old'Indytrack guy)
