<snore>  What got released?  Another game using an ancient driving model?
Oh can we jump for joy now?!

Everyone please forgive Chris.  He is a disgruntled open wheel fan who still
gets overly e***d when they show screenshots of Pole Position <VBG> ;)

The GPL engined NASCAR4 is sitting on the back shelf right now.  They claim
that the average computer can't run it, so we're stuck with another NASCAR2
remake.  Oh well, at least we have body roll now!

POLE POSITION ROCKED. :)  Man, I remember pouring many of quarter into that
game when I was a kid. :)

On another note, bring on the track convertors, bring on the Pits Touring
Car patch and then perhaps N3 will be worth something for online play. :)

Maybe both...

Or probably just getting back to his school account that he didn't have at home
over the summer when the announcement and the much discussed discussion [ ???
:-) ] over it NOT being in N3.

Why because I'm not thrilled at a developer having pumped out yet another
title based on a 5+ year old driving model?  Geesh.  Huge difference in
dissatisfaction with titles being produced, and actually being able to race
online.

Not that I've ever seen you on VROC/GSB either. :)

I too was not thrilled when I heard that GPL's engine was not going to be
used with Nascar3.  That being said, rather than harboring an eternally
negative attitude towards the developer for such hogwash, I opened my ears
to what they were saying and realized that either they produced something
this year that could be run by the masses or they wait until next year
before sending anything new to the market.  The former prevents the fiscal
suicide that the latter would bring.  So what do we want?  Papyrus to
produce another title that is only enjoyed by VERY few who have the systems
to handle it(sales figures on GPL wee  abysmal compared to any other title
produced by Papyrus while the cost of GPL was more than any other title
also) and go under.  Or take the middle ground with them and drive what is
going to be a damn good sim in its own right that many more can enjoy?  And
off the record, I had a chance to try out Nascar3 with the GPL physics and
there was no way in hell that you were going to get more than 10 cars on the
track at one time without relegating your FPS to 4 or 5.  Just too much
overhead for today's system to handle.  Plain and simple, it would not have
worked.

And since your tone demonstrates a possibility that you will not even buy
N3, I'll be sure to provide you with my thoughts on the title once it's
released so that maybe by chance you will venture online and enjoy yourself.
And by the way, I too used to race GPL during its first 6 to 8 months of
life and won about 75% of the races I entered.  Of course now, I probably
couldn't hold a candle to most drivers of the greatest racing game ever
created, but then again, Nascar racing is my main sim of choice.

And before these conversations you and I have enjoyed cross the line of
decency into chaos, let me state that it is not my intent to be an ***
however feasible it may seem<g>.  Case in point, the acceptance of
constructive criticism regarding HTML formatting of newsgroup messages.  The
unwritten rule was unbeknownst to me and I give my thanks for pointing it
out no matter how the pointing was worded<g>.

Rhawn,

Don't you know by now that reason never works with unreasonable people?  He only
knows what he WANTS and the facts of life, business and reality are not going to
dissuade him in his rancor toward Papyrus.

I only know that Papyrus Design Group has given me more entertainment per buck
than anyone else on the face of the planet and I WILL buy every one of their
offerings if for no other reason than to let them know that I want them to stay
in business.  If I can get a GPL out of a dozen NR99's then it's damned well
worth it to me.
