GTP High Framerates=neutered physics

I managed to download the mod before it was pulled.
Some of you might remember the ICR2 rendition patch,
one of the features was the ability to turn off the physics
engine, resulting in high speed and unlimited traction.
With the physics turned off your framerate went sky high.

With the gpt mod  my framerate in***pit at ST average
about 125 at 1280x960 4x aa with the details maxed out.
The pta or ta mod the average is about 60.
Do you think extra framerates are the product of the physics
engine turned way down?

I will say it seem to be way to easy,I jumped on the glen and
did 20 laps right out the bag with not one off, for some of
you I am sure that is completely normal, but not for me.

No, as since N3 framerate is no longer affected by physics rate, but by the
amount of detail onscreen, iirc.

It could be the GTP cars just have less polys or are made up of less polys
because the pitcrew is not allowed to rip various panels off, but I doubt
it's due to dumbing down of the physics.

I have challenged one of developers of the mod about this aspect (apparent
very forgiving tyre model, if at all changed from the stock cars), no reply.

i think the high framerates are because the counter is wrong, there were
several posts on rsc indicating that there is a big discrepancy between
framerates reported by fraps and by the ingame counter. i've noticed
that when my framerate drops down to about 36-40 it feels alot slower
than that, it doesn't feel smooth at all. but that might be an effect of
having the framerate jumping all over the place, i can go from 140 to 40
from one corner to the next. even so, it's a fantastic mod i think.

Your right.I tested the FR with fraps and it reports
about 40% less than the in game readings.
As I said before the car seemed to easy(but a lot ofun)
which is why I thought the physics might be dumbed down.
And the fact that Jans inquiry about the tire model
went unanswered, lessens my paranoia..somewhat.

I agree. There is way too much grip!

or way too much downforce, which is kinda realistic for those cars
(try the EA SCC mod beasts sometime on the Nordschleife ;-) unless the
high grip is also available in low-speed situations (which I have not
seen in a quick sprint race around Spa).

All the best,

uwe

Not with the wing set at 15 degrees there isn't.  The stock setups are--to
be charitable--balderdash.
