Wow thanks to all, I have exactly the same problem and a similar one with
SCGT. My precise symptoms are:
GPL, set for 3Dfx will only run if the desktop is set to 640*480! anything
above this I get a black screen after the 3Dfx logo.
SCGT, will run at any resolution but if it is above 640*480 when I hit
escape to exit a practice I get a message to press return. If I do that I
get a black screen lockup. SCGT works fine with D3D!
I've rebuilt my machine twice (thinking it was DX 7). I'll try getting rid
of the launcher and report back.

My problem is even worse. I downloaded the 28MB, extracted the files,
doubleclicked on the setup.exe, it pops up 4 dialogs about extracting
files, then a box saying: "Starting LiveWare3.0 setup", and that's it.
Nothing happens!!!

This after removing everything related to the SBLive, I even removed
the card from the device manager. No go!

At least reinstalling 2.0 plus 2.1 was possible.

Anybody having the same problem?
