when it comes to the game. it';s all what your video card and monitor
can support. I know for a fact i can get my needforspeed upto 1024x768
but like i said if your system doesn't support it. your not going to
see it. I notice you got a tnt card but what about your monitor.  if
you can get 1024x768 in windows you should get the same in the game.

Direct3D in NFS3 only goes to 800x600.

Are you trying to kill it?!  Ever smoke a monitor? It's not pretty...

Just for arguments sake, what is your color depth? 16 bit or 32bit? You
might be able to increase resolution if you DECREASE your color bit to 16.
(32bit will hurt ANY slower system...)

not if his monitor and video card supports it.

your monitor may support 32bit colors or higher. but your video card
may not. try what this guys says and turn your colors down.

On my system i didn't notice any lost of speed at 1024x768 but i am
using a voodoo 2 card. with lots of ram on my system.

The TNT won't go higher than 800*600 in Direct3d mode.
I don't know with a Banshee card.
I use a Viper 550 (max 800*600 in 16-bit) and 2x Monster3dII (Max 1024*768
in 16-bit).
I don't think it won't go any higher, since nfs3 doesn't go any higher than
1024*768.

Thats not right ,folks!
Ive got a Diamond V550 with TNT and I can reach the highest resolution of
about 1.152 x 852(?) in 16 bit.
All what you have to do:
1. Find the d3da.dll in your NFS-directory - not that in the
3dSetup-directory!
2. Clone it first and rename the origin file to "voodoo2a.dll".
3. Edit the "3ddata.dat"-file in the 3dsetup-directory with the notepad or
anything else and add the following line:
"CARD_NVidia TNT /M:voodoo2".
4. At last look for the execution link of NFSIII on your desktop and open
its properties.
The "rider" called like "link with.." shows you the link to execution file -
called "nfs3.exe" - that you will find behind the target definition. Here
you will add (after a blank (!!!)) the word "-voodoo2".
(5. Dont forget to start "3D Device Setup" before launching NFSIII and
select the Riva TNT graphic card - NOT "Software Rendering"!)

Thats it, try it and you will find under the properties of "graphics" the
wonderful world of more than 800x600.
You will find more hints and a lot of new cars at
http://www.camelot.warzone.com/hs3

This is one of many helpful hints of our german NFSIII newsgroup.
