Has anybody else played Power F1 by EIDOS?

My roommate and I purchased it this past weekend in an Electronics
Boutique in New Jersey.  I've only played it for a short while.  Here's
a quick breakdown of it:

Graphics:  Very good.  A little more realistic than GP2, but not quite
as visually appealling as Formula 1 for the Playstation.  It has a high
resolution setting that is great.  Details can only be set in three
levels.  You can't pick and choose which objects are present.

Menus:  Very simple and basic.  Very intuitive and easy to use.

Controls:  Supports the most popular wheel/pedal systems, joysticks, and
the keyboard.

Sound:  Very good.  Not quite enough bass.  Fairly realistic sounds.

Driveability:  Here is where the game is lacking a bit.  It plays more
like a really good arcade game then a sim.  It has all the play options
of GP2 (single race or full season).  It has all FIA licencing so the
teams, drivers, and livery are accurate for the 1995 season.  Modem and
network play are supported.  There is a split screen option so that two
may play on the same machine.  Detail levels are automatically adjusted
so the frame rate doesn't drop.  Unfortunately, there is no option that
allows two players to take turns on the same machine.  It drives pretty
well (although it is very jerky with my T2), but not very
realistically.  With all damage on and playing with the diffuculty at a
maximum i hit a wall going 170mph and nothing happened.

Overall:  A passable sim.  Not quite the CPU hog GP2 is.  Makes a great
arcade-style F1 game with some cool features like split screen play.

I welcome any other opinions or questions.

Tom,

Eidos hasn't released a demo or preview of Power F1, but I'm gonna buy
the game probably tomorrow, so e-mail me if you wanna know how it turns
out.

Uhm, yes there is a demo. I have it. Didn't like it much. It's a nice
game, though, if you're really into arcade games.

I got the game yesterday.
here is the story so far: Graphics are not as customizable as GP2, so
in the Hi-res mode you cannot switch off things like track details,
sky, adverts, etc. consequently my P-100 chugs along rather slowly.
Which is a pity. I would suggest a PC that's a LOT more powerful for
the high resolution mode. The game flies in low-res mode. - is there
anyone who still uses low res in ANY game? There is a 'detail down'
key, but this does not seem to have any great effect on the speed of
the game.
The game is more arcade than sim, which is not a bad thing sometimes.
There are days when you just wanna drive & not bother about setups.
Although the following setup options are available (except in the easy
level) Wings, brakes, tire types, tire pressures, suspension settings,
gear ratios, steering lock, fuel.
The tracks have a very different feel to GP2. Familiar in appearance
but feels totally different driving it.
I cannot complain about the graphics.
the bottom line - if you want to race in hi-res get it if you have a
pc that can handle it.
damn now where can i get some money for a P-200 MMX???

to prevent some ***y idiots sending me adverts>
