There's one big difference between Nscar and ICR that really bugs me.
...Well, it doesn't really bug me, but...anyway
In Nascar if a car is damaged it goes into the pits and, more often than
not, returns to the race. In icr2 if the AI cars get damaged, more often
than not they stay in the pits. The race field gradually dwindles (or
dwindles very quickly, depending on how you're driving) and you're left
driving round and round with noone to race against. It's too late now, I
know, but it would have been a very welcome option to be able to turn
off/on damage to the AI cars in ICR1 and ICR2.
I know right now someone out there is itching to send off a message to
this newsgroup saying why dontcha learn to f**** drive instead of
whining. But not everybody, in fact I believe only a small minority of
those driving ICR2 and Nascar are such excellent drivers that they
wouldn't need this option. When I was driving ICR1,just before I switched
to ICR2, I was more often than not able to win races at over 100% without
knocking out more than a couple of cars. People drive this game in order
to enjoy themselves, whether it is by winning races or just the thrill of
realistic wheel to wheel competiton.
As an example, I was racing a 100% distance race at Michigan recently,
was driving well, holding a steady third, when I got squeezed while
easing off a slower car, tapped a car on my outside, went into a spin,
and while spiining got hit by just about every car in the race. With 200
laps to go there goes a quarter of the field and I'm looking forward to a
long, uneventful race.
From my experience in this race and others the AI in NASCAR and ICR is
not all that "I".
