Trackmaps available!

Hi Freaks!
After a long time of just taking, taking, taking, it's finally the time for
me to give a little something to this group: I have made the first few of an
upcoming set of track-maps to be used with all those new circuits we have
been getting. As I am no programmer nor a grafic-designer, please be gentle
with me, it's all hand drawn, but I hope it fills some holes we still have
in GPL.
Download the first 3 track-maps from my site and be sure to read the
info.txt!
....................more to come:)
Feedback is welcome!

Is there a tutorial available somewhere which explains how to prepare track
maps and covers for GPL? I have good maps to most of the new tracks and
would like to try my hand at designing covers but I'm not quite sure how to
go about it.

TIA,

I had the same idea here, got a scanner and all manuals, but firstly not all
maps are well suited to be GPL-like (layout suxx), and secondly, it would be
even more work to first scan, retouch, edit the background etc etc than just
painting a line by hand and moving the vectors around a bit.....it's just
pretty nitty gritty :). Got the template pretty much done, just got to draw
those lines now !

thx

Well Mike, I just checked it out at different resolutions. Point is, I made
that page to adjust to the window, and no matter what resolution, you
*always* get it to fit the screen, so in fact, as the resolution gets
higher, the surrounding menuitems of Windows become smaller, but the content
becomes *bigger* because there's more room now:) Try it out at 640x480......
you will find it even harder to read :))
Concerning the hot-spot of the button: It's intentionally micro, especially
suited for people just coming from the race of their life, hands stll
trembling and shaking, *now* try to click that button :)
......thanx for the tips....... excuses are in my sig!

How the hell did you find time to do this when you're only 20km from the
'ring?

Guess they don't let you on in the dark...

Didn't find a tutorial yet, but basically it's pretty simple:
event.pbf is responsible for what u see in the event-screen.
page0.pbf shows the cover.
U can use pbf2tga.exe (included in GPL) to convert from pbf to tga :)) and
then u can edit it with a paint program, and save as bmp.
U then need GPLBatch.exe to convert bmp's back to pbf's
(http://members.aol.com/winmip)

P.S. Send me yer maps, saves me a lot of drawing :))

I just got my Rendition version of CART Racing and with it comes a couple of
excellent books, a manual and a strategy guide. The manual has good maps of
all the tracks which I could scan for you and send along if it would help.
Let me know.

Mike Barlo

Trackmaps available!

I had the same problem the first time.  However, I noticed that the
cursor changed when it was over the top of the switches.  It's such a small
area to click that it may be easily overlooked.

To the author of that site.. Is it possible to make the clickable  area
larger?  Also, I have my display at 800x600 and the text on the main page is
very tinny.  I can only imagine what it looks like to those with higher
res's.

Just a couple of tips..
Mike

Oops, indeed, it works. I have my desktop at something very large, and
the blue spot is only abt a mm^2 :-)

Thanks,
