Road America simulator

I race in the SCCA's American Sedan class with a
5 liter Camaro.  I am looking for a reasonably
good driving sim that would allow me to race at a
number of tracks that I have the opportunity to
race on in real life.  Those tracks are:

1)  BIR (Brainerd International Raceway)
2)  Road America
3)  Blackhawk Farms
4)  Mid Ohio
5)  Gingerman
6)  Grattan
7)  St. Louis
8)  Topeka

If there are no sims that offer these tracks, are
there any that offer the ability to "edit" the
tracks or to design your own.  I have a
significant amount of experience in both racing
and programming and I am willing to share track
data.

Part of my preparation in going to race at any
individual track is visualization sessions.
These can be aided with in-car videos I have
taken at previous races, or just looking at a
track map and visually remember the track (not an
easy task).  To be able to drive the track in a
sim would be a definate advantage to me over the
methods I currently use.

The quality of the background is really
insignificant as I use the background in real
life only for focal points in cutting the
appropriate line through a corner.  It can be a
pole, a rock, dead turtle - whatever - the rest
of the background never comes into my vision -
unless there is a corner worker waving flags in
it :-)

I appreciate any information you may be able to
assist me with!

We have a partial solution for you.
It is called the TPTCC.  It is a patch that redoes much
of the Nascar Racing 99 interface to change from
Winston Cup cars to Touring cars.  (4 door sedans
with 2.0 litre motors)  Now it doesn't change the
physics much..Papyrus doesn't like folks messing with
their code..but we can add tracks and items that make for
a "fair" representation of road racing.
Mid Ohio and Road America are included in the Indycar
Racing2/Cart Racing cd.  {ICR2 has been repackaged
to use the name CART Racing}  the Cart racing box
is usually being sold at close out prices.   topeka is
included with the N99 or Craftsman truck packages.
(all these products are by Papyrus via Sierra Sports)
You can convert the Mid Ohio and RA tracks to work
with N2 /N99 and work with the tptcc patch.  for more
info...check out the following site.
tptcc.com
  Hope this helps...
brainerd and the rest I can't help you with...sorry.

Well i know that u can also run Blackhawk Farms and Brainerd in GP2 but i dont
know if yull be able to find it anymore.  If you have this (or can get it) i
reccomend it because there are literally hundreds of edited tracks on the net.
thhp://www.grandprix2.com is a good place for things related to this sim
(virtually every track i know of is on theyre tracks page).  But as far as RA,
Mid ohio, and Topeka go use the Papyrus versions...theyre far better.  Hope
this helps.

Check out: http://www.racesimcentral.net/***.com .

It seams that they have a "track editing" project going for Sportscar GT,
and they probebly could use your help...
The Sim has THE best sportscar "physichs" to date, and alot of
fun "hacks" to enhance the game.

check it out! :)

Grand Prix II (GP2) has a track editor and more than 100 tracks have
been released by volunteers. Your help will be more than appreciated
at     http://www.mircx.com/cgi-bin/forum.cgi?forum=Tracked

Most of the tracks can be downloaded from
http://www.grandprix2.com/index.html

GP2 has recently be released on budget I believe.

As far as I know, very good versions of at least Mid Ohio and Road
America are available. There's also a Brainerd track. Can't comment on
the quality of the layout.
