The preferred method is starting Win95, then shutting down to DOS
mode. Ugly, but for some computers, they need the full Win95 boot to
properly initialize some DMA software. Either way works for me.
The drive/directory shouldn't be a problem if you originally
installed it there. Double check your INDYFAST.BAT file to make sure
it's pointing to the proper drive and directory (although
INDYSAFE.BAT, which is functioning for you, should have been created
in the same way at the same time).
When you boot up, the opening screen shows your video BIOS version.
58 was the original issue. 74 was the latest flash BIOS offered (as
of a few weeks ago). It might help to bring it up to date. I'd try
this only if other options don't work (or if you are experiencing
other problems).
Have you tried DMADiag or DMATest? These are diagnostic programs
(I think they are basically the same program). Some people have
reported that they have been able to run the diagnostic and then run
INDYFAST, if they had previously been unable to run INDYFAST
(apparently similar to the DMA initialization mentioned above). Worth
a try. The programs are availabe on Eric Busch's or David Sparks' web
sites. Good luck!
Before you send me UCE, I know what you're thinking... Did he complain
to five or six postmasters last month? Now, you must ask yourself one
question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do you, punk?
