I couldn't get it to work (Guru meditation error or page fault) so let me know
how you get on!
Could it be an incompatibility with directX5?

I'm kind of undecided about the game...
Good stuff:
There is only one section in the demo, but it looks good and smooth.
It's a desert town, with a few middle-eastern style buildings.
Frame rate is still fast, although the first time I ran the demo it
was very slow. Something was really bogging it down until I re-booted.
I overtook slower traffic about halfway through the course. I suppose
this means that it will happen in the "simulation" mode of the game.
In the first one, I never came across traffic unless I played the
arcade mode.
This is just a minor detail, but the brake lights have a real nicely
done effect in the view from behind the car.
Another detail is that people are grouped near the start and finish,
and not out in the middle of the course. This seems more correct.
In the first version, it was kind of wierd to see a guy standing there
watching the race in the snow, 20 miles from the nearest building.
Not So Good Stuff:
There is now apparently no***pit view.
You can use the C key to toggle either a behind the car view, or a
full screen "bumper cam" style view.
I liked the***pit view A LOT!
They were so well done, with the left/right side steering wheels and
working wipers. I guess all that stuff is gone.
I probably wouldn't miss it if the first version didn't do it so well.
It is still "walled" like the first game. Keeping it pinned and
bouncing off the walls still seems to be the fast way through the
course. There is only one course in the demo, so maybe it's different
for the other stages.
Although all the terrain is smooth, the car itself still has a minor
case of the "jaggies".
It looks like the 2D car out of the first game, superimposed on a 3D
background. Its no big deal, but I noticed it right away along the
spoiler and window lines of the car.
Thats about it...
If it had the***pit view, I'd definitely buy it, even though I had
hoped for it to be more sim-like than the last one.
The fact that the first game had the great***pits and was so fun
made it easy to overlook that it was more arcade game than sim.

Are you running DirectX3 or DirectX5?
