Question regarding installation of Netscape for VROC

by Mike Armstro » Sat, 16 Jan 1999 04:00:00

Well, i've practiced this sim since it first came out and I'm down to
a 1:30.09 at Monza and 1:06.45 at WG both with Lotus on default setup.

My consistency is OK and I recon I'm ready for a bit of online
shenanigans(sp?).

I currently use IE3 and have a question I'd like to ask before I
install netscape to enable the use of VROC.

Will installing netscape override IE3?  I would prefer, if possible,
to continue using IE3 as my default browser.

Part of the same question I guess, but would someone reassure me that
the version of netscape which I need to install is not going to take
over my whole system ala IE4.

Thanks

get GPLSL instead, then you don't have to get Netscape - it works with
any browser.

It shouldn't.  Netscape asks you if you want to make it the default browser.
Sometimes these programs ignore you, but it's easy to change back.

I am just using Netscape 4.08 (which, at least a few weeks ago, was the
latest version of the standalone browser - without all the e-mail and other
clients) and it works fine.

My advice is go for it.  Racing on VROC is great fun.

Netscape will work with IE3,4.  When Netscape says that it is not
the default browser, just put an X in the box (that says do not ask
again) and select the choice that will *not* make Netscape the default.

Installing the standalone browser will not try anything 'funny'.
The Communicator Suite will install an AOL messanger thingy, but
don't worry.  Just open it up.  Pretend you are going to apply for it, but

goto the options menu and click "do not startup automatically on boot".

There, now go for it!

Your welcome :-)
