Try running win 2000 in safe mode and see if GPL will start in software
mode, that may rule out any driver problems.
I'm running GPL on win2000 on 2 PCs, 1 is a celeron 466 with a V3 3000 and
SB PCI card 128MB RAM, the other is an Athlon 750 with V4 4500 and an SB
Live 1024 with the latest drivers.
All I can say is that GPL will run in Win2000, but it can take a bit of
persuading.
Are you using NTFS or FAT32 ? some people havereported problems getting GPL
to run with NTFS, though my celeron system is NTFS.
If all else fails, maybe you could use a dual boot system, 98 for games and
win2k for all the other stuff.
