Anybody have any experience with this card.  It is supposed to be 3dfx
compatible.

I don't want to spend the cash if its a dud
Thanks

No, the ATI Rage Fury does NOT support the Glide (3dfx) API.  It only
supports Direct3D and OpenGL.

D3D and opengl but not glide(3dfx). The reviews I've seen on the card are
great and it outperforms the nvidia tnt at 32bit but a bit slower on some games
at 16bit color. Also it has the built-in dvd decoder so you save yourself the
cost of a dvd decoder card if you decide to add a dvd drive later. I feel this
is the best card going right now but probably soon to be topped by tnt2 and
voodoo3 (altho no 32bit support with the V3 card).

From what I've been able to gather, it has two advantages over the TNT
cards:

1.  32 bit color games.  Since there is a total of one, I believe, not a
big deal.

2.  DVD Decoder.  A _big_ deal.

2D and 3D/16 bit performance is typical.  Nothing groundbreaking here.

I got tired of waiting for them to ship it (it was like 5 months late)
and I bought the Diamond Viper TNT instead.  I don't regret it one bit.

As for 3dfx compatibility, that is a different technology that only 3dfx
cards have.  However, DirectX seems to be where the industry is heading
so I don't think 3dfx is as important as it used to be.

With 3dfx's recent moves towards greed, and the upcomming TNT2, I think
they are going to suffer greatly in the next year.

What a shame :(
