Impressions of F12000

Well after a weekend of playing this game my view is mixed!

On the positive, I think the***pit views are wonderful and I get a
nice immersive effect here!!
Graphics are decent but sadly cannot be fully exploited!!
Damage is fairly decently modeled!
As for the physics, I think they seem all right but I will leave that
opinion to the more discerning of the F1 crowd on this ng!

Tragically some of the positives are overshadowed by the appalling
amount of power it must take to fully and properly run this Game!!??
My system is a P3 450 with and Asus Riva TNT 2 and 64 Sdram and a 40x cd
rom etc etc! Now I know this isn't the top line machine but it is surely
not so cheesy that I cannot get a decent frame rate here with most of
the display options on??? It is particularly appalling when one starts a
race or when other cars are around and indeed makes for a trying driving
experience at that moment!! How does EA expect to make this game
conducive to the majority of the PC gamers out there who have not yet
upgraded to a P3 700??? Unless the boxed version has something to offer
that we are not yet seeing on this Myth Wares version, this game is
going to be in trouble!
For contrast I popped in my MGP2 and was amazed at the fluidity of this
game in any situation!!
Also has anyone noticed that on the exterior view, the car looks like
its floating on top of the track? Indeed when one is driving in this
view their also seems to be a slip slidy unrealistic quality also!! Talk
about cheesy!!
Despite all that I'll probably buy the game in the hope of a patch to
fix some of the above problems;alas, I am told that this will become a
series for EA so lets hope they can build on the positives for the
future!!

Thanks from Den in Canada.

Buying the title then waiting for patch is not the way to go if you want
more quality titles in the future.  The only thing Electronic Arts want is
your money.  They won't care much whatever you buy the title and actually
race it.  If you wait until the patch, then decide on buying it, you will
have a much better satisfaction over a product, plus at the benefit of
having it at a lower price tag! ;)

Reading an interview of G. Crammond, he talked about how people were
*only now* beginning to be able to drive GP2 with full graphics details
on. There should be a technology lead-ahead built into games, but thats
ridiculous! :)  Even arcade games that are meant to look photo-
realistic (NASCAR Revolution, etc.) need a supreme CPU to run smooth
with everything turned on. Thats just the price of polygons! )
Hopefully we can start bying/upgrading 3D cards with processors built
in soon, instead of needing to upgrade the entire rig.

After a weekend of toying around with this terrible *excuse* for a game, I'm
getting real tired off all that "it's not the release version" "they'll fix
it" stuff...
Can't you see that it was really all just Hype ? Read the bla on the
official site and compare it with what you see. This is WYRIWYNG ("what you
read is what you'll never get"). Suggestion to EA: Let Milestone do the next
F1 game, and give them 3 years time. This could lead to something decent.

cheers,
Alex

My favorite view is exterior.  In this game you are absoultely right it is a
joke!!!.  The car feels like it is floating on air and moves side to side in
an abnormal matter.  It never grips the road.  Thanks but no thanks I will
stick to Gp2 and Monaco racing which are far better than this Ea crap!!!

Now this is interesting.  People are griping about the frame rate.....

HELLO!!!!!  If they design a NASCAR 4 with the GPL engine....You're going
to need at least a 800mhz processor to acheive a decent frame rate.  But..If
you guys want it.....Keep asking.....

yeah, and by the time it come out 800 MHz wont be that uncommon. I mean,
who had PIII450's when GPL was released ?

N1 ran like a dog on my 486... how come they suddenly got worried about
system specs?
