New Engine Sound for NR1999?

I was wondering if this could be done:  Grab the engine sound from the
N3 preview and create a short .wav file out of it.  Unpack the engine
.wav file from the sound.dat from NR1999 and plug the new one in.

What an awesome sounding car that would be :)  I could not get Sound
Recorder to pick up anything from the N3 movie.  I have not had very
good luck with that thing in the past, and am sure there are better
recording tools out there.

Can this be done?
