Hi All

Has anyone had any problems with GP2, coz a friend of mine finds
it *very* unstable.

He has a HP Vectra 500, P75 with 16mb ram. Now the problem is that it
can crash at anytime, weather he's done 1 lap or 50 laps. When it does
crash it chucks up a load of garbage, then shuts down, then a requester
pops-up saying "Win95 couldn't open screen", then Windows crashes. He
has tried running GP2 in DOS, but he can't get it to load.

Does anyone know what is going on, is it Win95 causing the problem or has
GP2 been released in a very bad state.

Hope someone can help because he's really pissed-off ATM (on the verge of
selling-up).

Thanks.

Vincent.

Hi

But it states that it does run in Win95, and so it should do. His machine
was built for WIn95 and not DOS. He has got a disk with all the DOS drivers
on, but doesn't know how to set them up (a newbie), so ATM he's ***ed.

If it is butil for win95 then it is built for DOS.  It doesn't take much
to quite win95 going to the DOS only mode.  If he or she is haing problem
doing that, I am sure here has more than one persons is willing to land a
helping hand.

The best way to do this is use the Loyd Case of example in CGM June issues.  I
have followed his advise and like the result so far.  Generally, it use
the Menu commend to boot up into different environments.  Working great
with gamer that need to boot into DOS often.   However, this might not be
a easier soluation for your friend, since it require some knowledge of the
config.sys and autoexec.bat.

That is also a software call power play and it should solve all the
problem for your friend in win95 play games.  The company is call The
software Labs. INC.
Good Luck!

GP2 was designed for DOS, so your best chance is to make it work in DOS.

Sorry if this is obvious for you, but did you install the CD-ROM and
mouse-drivers for DOS?

I'm running GP2 in Win95.....CRASHES often, but I'm still running in
indistructable mode so it hasn't chucked up any garbage yet. NO
seriously it's been running fine. GigaByte P100 32Mb. Good luck!

Hi Jo

Got it working in DOS now and it's working fine.

Got the CD-ROM driver installed but not the mouse driver yet, but that
shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks.
