Has anyone heard any whispers on the grapevine about the date for another
CMR2 patch?

I got this reply recently from Codies..but I've heard that 90 to 100 staff
are loosing their jobs.. So  with this in mind it's got to be very tense
work place..

You can't blame them for having their minds elsewhere on more important
things.

"Dear sir,

Thank you for your email.  A Patch will be released in February.  We are
aware of most of the problems with the game through customer comments, and
we do look at the Highgear forums from time to time.  We can put forward
your suggestions however it is unlikely any of the suggestions would be
implemented other than a clearer indication of what is happening in a
Internet game.

If you have any further enquiries then don't hesitate to ask.

Regards,

CMR2 - Any sign or projected dates for a patch

I haven't even been able to find the first one! But then, isn't the US
version (which I have) already the same as the Euro version with the
patch?  If it's not, then I could sure use a patch for it!

It's VERY jerky at any screen size/depth! :(   I've turned off nearly
everything that's available to turn off, and am running at 640x480x16,
just to keep it tolerable, and that's just barely :(

FWIW, I'm running the following..

Asus A7V, with 1007 bios revision
Athlon 1000Mhz
256mb PC133 CAS2
Creative Annihalator Pro (GeForce DDR) with nVidia reference drivers,
version 1080
SBLive! X-Gamer
DirectX v8.0
Win98SE with all patches applied

I've checked the thing out with 3DMark2000 and 2001 and tweaked the
bios settings and changed video drivers for maximum score to no
avail... :(

CMR2 - Any sign or projected dates for a patch

I have a friend with a faster PC than mine:  P3/800, WinMe, V5-5500,
SBLive 5.1, DX8a, 128+? RAM, TM Pro wheel and he experiences jerkyness.
On my P3/550, Win98 y2k patches, MSI Pro motherboard, SBLive with
patches, DX8a, 192mb, V5-5500 tuned for visual quality, TM-FF I only get
jerkyness when the "FF Texture setting" is not 0%.  Due to all the bumps
in the road, it's just too many FF computations I guess.

My friend only gets the jerkyness with Insane and CMR2 -- both
Codemasters releases -- and he's not using FF.

Something's wierd.

Jason.

CMR2 - Any sign or projected dates for a patch

by Sideshow Bo » Fri, 16 Mar 2001 09:59:06

Very weird... my CMR2.0 (US version) is super smooth at 1280X1024X32 with a
medium-high amount of featues turned on.  With the LWFF wheel active there
is a slight drop in framerate -  but not much.

Details:
- CMR 2.0 with clear windshield patch
- PIII 933
- 384MB PC133 CAS3
- Intel D815EEA motherboard, 64MB AGP aperture, no tweaks
- ATA/100 hard disk
- Win2000 SP1 + DX8
- ATi Radeon 32MB DDR  w/ ATi 3102 drivers, FSAA OFF, vert-sync ON, no
tweaks
- SB Live, LiveWare 3.0, Dell drivers
- LWFF USB

Hmmm... if that's the case, it sounds like your Radeon is a better
card than my GeForce..   I'm not a fan of ATI, but hey, if it works,
run it! :)

How true.

The Radeon should outperform the original GeForce as Radeon is more of a
GeForce2 fighter.  But who knows, CMR2 could favour the Radeon's strengths
more than other games.  F12K and GP3, for example, are nothing special on my
system... I'd like to see them much smoother than they are.
