I don't think there is a demo yet. But I've played the game at there HQ,
and it's well worth the wait

There is a demo of X-Car, it is on PC Games April 1997 demo CD.

The demo's been cut, and has been sent off to the various mags...As
far as when it'll be on Bethesda's site, I don't know for sure.
