Something similar sometimes happens to me.  I finally traced it down to the
cable for the pedals coming loose from the main unit, requiring a simple
push back in.  It sounds like you may have a more complicated problem, but
it certainly would be nice if it were this simple.

I'm afraid that I don't have an answer for you right now, but I'm glad
you have mentioned this problem as I am hoping to buy the ACT Lavs RS
FF wheel in the next few days and want to know as much as possible
about it beforehand.

I'll keep an eye on this thread...

Wel, so far it's fixed- must have been a driver issue or DirectX. I did a
reinstall of Win98(and everything else <g>) last night, and things have been
peachy all day. If you don't hear anything else from me on this, that's
because it's fixed.

After installing the new driver for Force RS
(separate pedals support,
downloadable from www.actlab.com) I'm unable to
set up controller in "Need
for Speed High Stakes". The game just freezes
when I go to
options/controllers until I disconnect power
supply for the wheel. The old
driver works fine.
Any ideas?
Did anybody use Act Labs Force RS with new driver
in NFSHS?

Tech Info:
USB connection
Win98 SE
DirectX 6.1

Worked fine for me.  Of course, I used the NFSHS demo.  Perhaps the full
version is different.  I use a serial connection for the wheel, running the
latest drivers.
