Help, it runs sluggish.

Does anyone have a config that gets this to run properly?

Get rFactor, it pisses all over GP2.

Haha, actually it's funny you guys mentioned rFactor as I thought I'd
give it a go last night and I was really impressed!

Because Dosbox is an emulator it runs a lot slower than real dos. It's
no good for more demanding games. Dosbox can barely run Masters of Magic
acceptably so there is little hope for it to run GP2 very well.

You guys did press CTRL-F11 and CTRL-F12 to speed up/slow down the
processor speed, yes? No?

Yeah, I've tried that and a few other tweaks but with no great
improvement.

It's not just that GP2 is slow in dosbox but it's also seems out of
sync (sound+graphics) and is basically unplayable.

F1GP runs much better in comparison.

Try VDMsound instead. That might give you better results.

Well I have a widescreen lcd and I simply can't stand games that
stretch to fit the 16:10 aspect ratio so I think dosbox is my only
real option given I can run it in a window with normal aspect.

Is it only me, or is it usually the LCD that "stretches" the image to
fit 16:10?

*My* LCD has options for this, at the least (Dell 2405 something), I can
choose 1:1, 4:3 or Fill so that graphic modes of less resolution than
the full display resolution is treated accordingly. In your case, you'd
choose 4:3 since you want your old game to be displayed as large as
possible.

Make sure that you are using DosBox 0.72 and that in your dosbox.conf
that core= and cycles= are both set to Auto.

If the game you are playing is a realmode game and not protected mode
then you will need to press Ctrl F11/F12 to slowdown/speedup DosBox.

Most LCD computer monitors don't have that option. There are only about
three 22" models that do. All LCD HDTV have it though so don't see why
computer LCDs don't.

I have an LG 24" Widescreen and it didn't have the option in its built
in options menus. I had to find it in the Display Properties Nvidia
control panel. Its been awhile. I remember I had to uncheck something to
make the option appear elsewhere. Sorry for being so vague. I work on a
problem and research it and fix it and then promptly forget all about
it. :)

Yea, I know what you are talking about. That option is only available if
you use DVI, I use VGA due to a KVM so am SOL.
