Diamond Viper Drivers 252 - big gain...

Does running the agpclk at 1/1 rather than 2/3 on a
100 mhz fsb system do anything?

Further to my previous post I installed the new 252 drivers for the Diamond
Viper 550 and also messed around with overclocking the card (after putting a
fan on it!) with the Gamers assistant. I benchmarked as I went along with
3DMark 99 so for anyone who is interested the results were:

Viper Drivers 241:  1875
Viper Drivers 245:  1880
Viper Drivers 252:  2146

Next I messed with the Core & Memory speeds (defaults are 90Mhz & 110Mhz)

C100 & M 115 : 2148
C115 & M 115 : 2161

conclusion: overclocking the card does not a lot for you but the 252 drivers
are well worth having...uplift in the benchmark of 14.45%. I clocked the
card back to standard.........

Anyone who wants them should go to http://www.rivazone.com/ & follow the
link. For some reason they are on the MS web site & not at diamond! Read the
Readme file re setting back to std VGA before you install the new drivers &
you'll save yourself half an hour!

Right, I'm off to turn a few laps in GPL & see what the benefits are!

well, I think I got a few more FPS out of doing that...might have helped if
I'd remembered to disconnect myself from the net first! Try again tomorrow!
