You can have up to 6 gears.  Each mod has the option of enabling the
extra two gears.
When you race at a WC track with a mod, you are racing against Nascar
speeds, not Formula.
There are two different ways to change the AI speeds,  the easy way...is to
rename the track and go and do 10 solo CLEAN practice laps.  Heat will learn
your lines and speed.  (hint don't go all out or you'll never pass
yourself!!)
But that method is not very precise nor safe for your current
files....There is a better way, but I don't have the info anymore.  Search
RAS with Google Groups.  You might find something.  (also the High Gear
Forums.)

I like the Ferrari Challenge and GP70 (70's F1) mods.
GP70 doesn't have a***pit view, more like a rollbar
view.  Haven't tried CART yet, so it might be good.
Heck, there's a lot of mods I haven't tried.

In the mod's folder find and open options.cfg
-----------------------------
[GAME]
opponent_strength 5
custom_strength 125
----------------------------------

"opponent_strength 5" sets it to custom in the
game setup menu.  It only goes up to 120 in the
game, but you can set it to whatever you want
in the file.  In some mods, the cars may not be
able to handle it.

Since mods tend to have very high detail cars, I
turn down the
draw_cars_ahead 48
draw_cars_behind 48
to 4,
and reduce the pack size to 7, this greatly improves
framerate on my PII 400 V2.

Yep, a ton of tweaks in options.cfg

What version are you running? the latest (which is an open beta)
has a graphical replica of a Pi digital dash (as the real cars). Max
revs IRL is about 6,300 (I think) and typical shift point are at
around 6,000 revs

You can do what Dave Henrie suggested but a better way (although
takes a bit more doing is ..)

Take Dover as an example :

clear all current RECORDS for Dover and delete all Dover
.gcf's from your ghostcar folder
i.e Dover_simulation_best_ever.gcf

Run Dover in test mode until you have done a fast, clean
lap, try and leave about a cars width to the outside walls.

This will become your new RECORD and will create a new
Dover_simulation_best_ever.gcf in your ghostcar folder.

Copy that file into your \F2000 directory and rename it to
"Dover.gcf"

Now, when you run Dover in F2000 the AI will use your lap
as the base and you should find it runs similar times to you
at 100-102%

BTW, the open beta thats there at the moment will probably
be updated in the next 24hours (just setups altered) - check
this forum for news of it's "official" release :

The F2000 mod is based on the real world USF2000 series and the
cars only have 4 gears in real-life.
