Super 1 Karting Simulation.....worth looking at?

by Marc Collin » Wed, 20 Mar 2002 02:28:58

It's cheap now, but I don't recall reading anything about it at the time of
its release.  I assume that's because it wouldn't be of interest to a
*** racing sim audience, but I thought I would ask anyway.

If it is a decent sim., I am interested in the cart (as well as CART, of
course!) level of racing.

Thanks,

Marc

It's a smart little game with good graphics and good physics. But, since upgrading to XP
and a Geforce 3, I just can't get it running properly anymore. When I had my old ATI, it
worked fine. It may be a bit past it's sell by date, I think.

Marc,
I grabbed since my son is hot for a Kart. Its not bad, but does not support
Split Axis.  Its a lot of fun tho after you get a handle on things the AI is
way slow.

I would rate it around RT, and SCGT.   A fun game none the less.  It will
make you work your arms a bit since the tracks are tight and you have to
work a bit unlike road courses for cars.

Where did you find this game? It sounds interesting, especially if it is
cheap!

FWIW, we were running an offline league with S1K about 6 months ago or
so.  There is some good info about necessary steering tweaks on the
High Gear S1K forum:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/~hg/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=34

You can also check the S1K Offline League site for more info, setups,
etc.:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/~jbodin/s1koffline.htm

If there was any interest, I might be willing to resurrect the league.
The administration part is a REAL chore, so if someone wanted to take
care of the data collection and such, it would make it MUCH easier on
me (hint, hint).
