If anything, it is even more pronounced.  I think the reason you don't
notice it as much is because the cars have greater acceleration off
the corners when the motor is unrestricted.  The lead car can
accelerate, so the drafting car's advantage is mitigated somewhat.

You see the same things at Atlanta and Michigan.  The draft is there,
it's just harder to notice.

The future is Orange.. is that a Swedish expression or is there a hint
hidden somewhere inside? Don't forget to tell the guys we (well I at
least) also would like to see Riverside in N2002 :)

Swedish !!!!

What's with the personal insults here all of a sudden, first I'm being
compared to Scott Husted, now it's being hinted that I'm
Swedish.....this hurts

Actually, it's an ad for a phone company, Orange, I think, something
that just popped into my mind when I wrote "the future is bright", bit
like that song you can't get out of your head, which btw is "ooops I did
it again" right now, they played it on the radio when I was out driving
a little while ago, cruel and inhumane punishment for someone with my
music taste :-)

Everyone, do a Cartman impersonation with a kiddie voice and pointing
the index fingers parallell from side to side after each line:

Goy is from Sweden, Goy is from Sweden, Goy is ...

Uhm.. Norway, Sweden, Denmark, does it really matter? As Remco Moedt
once said 'you all talk Dutch with a bunch of weird letters thrown in
it'

Oh great, now I have 'Oops I did it again' in my head too,
thankyouverymuch :-/

Well, I guess he's right about that, sorta, I did manage to make myself
understood in Holland ages ago with a combination of German and
Norwegian, that was a weird conversation I can tell you :-)

Gerald is spot on, without restrictor plates drafting is not quite as 'close
quarters' an affair as it is with the plates. With more acceleration off the
corners and also no fixed rear suspension (so you can get the deck lid lower
and out of the air flow) the faster non plate tracks don't seem to create
the packs with their draft since leaders can pull out somewhat on closing
cars. Atlanta and Michigan are great examples and IMHO, Atlanta is the
fastest track on the real WC circuit nowadays. A good setup will have you
over 202mph going into T1, I usually see 205+mph into T1 in Q setup there.

And congrats on learning the brake instead of lift thing, it is the only way
to fly at those tracks IMO. (and you also learned about getting out of line
at the wrong time...thats what I meant about just getting some seat time and
learning when to go and when to slow, so to speak.)

Yup it's going better and better now. Drafted from 43rd to 1st
position at Daytona 90%, then a yellow flag came.
I made a clever pitstop to get fresh tires.
The other 42 AI cars were even more clever and didn't pit.
I was back at 43 when the green flag came  :-/

Yup, you are definetly into drafting/plate racing '201' at this point, lol.
Good luck and congrats on passing the '101' course, :) Now strategy is in
the curriculum, and new terms like 'short pitting', 'tire management', 'fuel
management' and 'track position' are on the table. These all fall into
various categories of combined 'pit' and 'race' strategies. Pop quiz next
Tuesday, LOL!

Yeah, but when they make their green flag stops, then you're a LAP ahead...
How long was the race?

30% race at Daytona Night. I have no idea why, but 30% Daytona at
daylight races have more laps than a 30% Daytona night race.
If I remember correctly you have enough fuel at the start for a 30%
Daytona night race without pitting..

I can;'t remember the exact situation, but my pitstop was not needed
since I and the AI had enough fuel to finish the race. I noticed this
after I entered the pit :-/
