I76 movie problems!

by Matt Bianchett » Wed, 16 Jul 1997 04:00:00

I'm having problems with the animation clips in I-76. I get weird pixels
and distortion effects randomly on the screen. Rest of the game plays
great.

I have a Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 with a Monster 3D, and am NOT using D3D
patch (or any patch for that matter). I've tried 256, 16-bit color,
latest Diamond S3D Drivers, latest Monster 3D drivers, latest S3 Generic
drivers, turning graphic acceleration slider up and down, disabling all
progs running in background (i.e. Virus Scan, screen saver), using
standard mouse pointers, and reinstalling DirectX 3.0a from the first
CD.

The problem is not CD related, as I tried copying the intro video files
from CD #2 to my hard drive and emulated the dir to be a CD drive via
something I found called "FakeCD". The movies played, but they were
still screwed up.

Other specs:
Intel Pentium 133
Toshiba 8X CD drive
Sound Blaster 16
MS Sidewinder 3D Pro

The animations work fine on my brother's AMD K5-P166 w/Diamond Stealth
64 Video and 12X CD-ROM drive.

Please e-mail me any help, thanks.

You might find that the problem is associated with your soundcard.  I
have an AWE32 which needed extra drivers from the Creative Labs website
before I could get any of the movie clips to work.  The problem lies
with the DirectX audio drivers.

Hope this helps.
