Does anyone have any suggestions on a temporary fix for broken springs in my
NASCAR Pro Wheel?

TIA,

I've had to use this during a league race, & now always keep supplies close
at hand ;-))....get a couple of wide *** bands (1/8"-1/4"), just kinda
regular size...hook the *** bands (2-3-4 to suit your pedal stiffness
desire) around the gas pedal about 1" up the back & hook the other end of
the loop under the front corner of the pedal base. This worked for me for a
couple weeks :-))! TM voice # to order parts works better than e-mail & is
(503)615-3200.

Same thing happened to me at Bristol (what a place to have a pedal stuck on
the floor!)  I had to do a 'real' pit stop!  I found the small 'bungee'
cords work better,  elastics kept breaking and snapping me in the leg.  I
guess it all depends on how long you _have_ to race.

The boys sure got a kick out of that one when I finished 3rd,  those were
the days...  Quake2, meditation and therapy take up a lot of my time now.
Hopefully N3 will have better native 'Internet' support so we don't have to
use 3rd party emulators/front ends.  Not that they don't work well....  it's
just paying $xx.xx for a game these days only to have to pay $xx.xx/2 to be
able to play a non-LAN multiplayer game...  or anyone remember their phone
bills in the early days of Hawaii?

Cheers

Do I ever....I hated to do it, but had to stop racing on Hawaii or stop
eating. Hope I never have a decision that tough again 8^).

Wadt T answered:

I might add:

The *** band idea has worked for me on my T2 for about two years...
EXCEPT I used *** bands I cut from a motorcycle inner tube. (An old
dirt rider's trick, cut them about 1/2" - 3/4" wide.) If you don't ride
cycles, try the local dirt bike shop, they usually have a supply of bad
tubes in the junk bin.  One tube will yield a lifetime supply of ***
bands, and you'll be surprized at how handy they are around the house.
On my T2, those old inner tube bands keep going, and going, and going...

I've been making my own springs using .062 welding wire. Tried a variety of
different materials; steel, inconel, & titanium. You can find these at your
local welding supply outlet. Titanium will last longer but it's a little
light on tension. Use a 3/8-16 threaded fastener to wind the torsion coil,
I made a jig to make this easier, but you can do it without one, it will
take a little practice. Make identical replacements for the gas, but since
the brake spring wire diameter is a larger oddball size, I use four springs
with only single winds to gain the adaquate tension. Good luck. Tom.
