ATTITUDES - KALI vs. HAWAII

Drivers:

You know this Kali thing is interesting and what I have
noticed is the attitudes.

1).     On the Hawaii it wasnt very hard to get into a confrontation.

2).     On the Kali and Kahn system people are more laid back.

My feelings on this is its free on KALI/KAHN and it cost
people Long Distance charges to race on Hawaii.  With that
phone bill in the back of your mind and the pressure of losing
your 13 rating, it sort of put lots of people on a SHORT
FUSE!!  BOTTOMLINE we were all racing for money on HAWAII .. OURS!!!!

What do you guys think....

I thinks Hawaii is so expensive that I cannot afford to even try it out!
If the drivers' attitudes stink, I don't want to.  Poor attitudes in
multiplayer *** have ruined the experience sometimes in the past.
Please forgive my ignorance on this topic, but I don't know how to hook
up with other racers via KALI/KAHN.  Could you please post or e-mail me
more info such as files I need to download and where to find people to
race.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I've seen a lot of messages and such concerning KALI. I've raced Hawaii
your right about the costs thats for sure.  I can only justify one race a
month at approx. $20 for an hour and a half racing...that is if nobody
gets stupid and wrecks you out 3/4 or more into a race.  That's
frustrating!  I'd hate to be in a room where all the racer's are within
fists reach.  What a brawl that would be <g>
OK the main gest-- How does one go about connecting via Kali and what is
the costs?  Or perhaps TEN when it gets NASCAR ready?
Thanks for any info

Hi Don,
Just my .02. The fuses are just as short on Kahn as they are in Hawaii
but in different areas. The Kahn chat is far ruder than the worst Dega
chatter ever was. No one seems willing to part with any info  on how
to set up, run or optimize your system in Kahn. The patent answer to
everything is "your ping sux". Now that is in contrast to the  Hawaii
League structure that encourages cooperation for a good race. Kahn is
more " I'm here to play, shut up and put this sack on yer head".
If you have a problem with latency, or something not working right
in Kahn some of the other drivers shun you instead of making the
effort to help. On Hawaii, you just get dumped, yelled at..or you come here for
info where someone will help you.
The latency pecking order, imho, is far more disappointing  than the
great to good to bad driving pecking order on Hawaii. At least one can
become a better driver but as far as latency it's a matter of financial
status. Just my .02
best regards,
Greg
Gavel on Hawaii & TEN & eventually Kahn

I think that the NRO, in conjunction with AT&T, MCI, Sprint, etc. should
see that some of that money is returned to Hawaii drivers in the way of
race purses, incentives and sponsorship packages that reduce the cost of
racing on TEN.  Hey, Papy!  Helped you get the show on the road... now
baby needs new shoes!

Oh yes, absolutely.  The other thing is that in my experience, many of
the connections in Kali or Kahn are not very raceable anyway.  When you
get a good connection, it is a bonus, and you might as well enjoy it.
Then again, I am mostly using Kali/Kahn for practice for Hawaii.  So for
me and I'm sure many others, Kali/Kahn is nice, but Hawaii/NRO is the
REAL thing with League standings, pride, cost, and skill level all
wrapped into one.  (I am esetser on Hawaii, Kali, and Kahn, and race in
the IVGA Gold Team Series right now.)
