Rally Championship Demo 3rd Edition

by big.. » Wed, 24 May 2000 04:00:00

Hi All

I just got this demo and tried to play but when I run it the
screen goes black and then I get a message box saying that
there's no D3D compatible hardware.

I'm running PIII-550 128mb w/- V3 2000 PCI card. SHouldn't  this
work ok?

I couldn't find any info on the demo's requirements so somebody
out there is my last hope.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Nick

I'll give it a try Louis but I'm pretty sure I have the latest drivers.
The machine is only weeks old too.

I'm also running a SB Live card. Has anyone experienced trouble with
this config?

Thanks.

Nick

I checked and I am running the latest non-beta 3dfx drivers, 1.04
and DirectX 7.0a.

Any ideas anyone?  The game looks almost good enough to buy without
checking the demo but I want to be confident it will run ok.

Cheers
Nick

Well the game is REALLY good, but you need to patch it to 5.27 or 5.29 to
modify the gravity settings, the car has a tendacy to "fly" when you hit a
wall or something and it "flies" a bit too long.

I heard there are MANY problems with the Sb live, like you need to DL a 7
Megs patch from the CL site to get it working.

Did you run the DX setupinfo program to see if he could find something that
is not working well, I am not saying not certified drivers because
everything is not certified DX, even a MS joystick !!!

Of course I assume you have removed and reinstalled the demo so that can't
be it, I'm really surprised because the game runs fine woith me and I never
heard too much probelms with it anyway

Athlon 700
128 Megs
TNT2 (Guillemot cougar video)
3DFX2 (Guillemot 3D2)
Act labs FF (with the shifter in full effect)

Anyway you can buy it because it's really good but maybe the problem you
have will still be there with the complete game, try also sending a mail to
www.magneticfields.com or .co.uk and see what they say.

Good luck
