I cant really say that this is horrible news or anything.....
some people move on.  Dunno if this is the case or not.....News of the V4
delay aside, I am sure that between product cycles is a good time for
someone to leave.

BTW did you see any of those unimpressive benchmarks for the GeewizForce?
Me thinks I shall get a cheap V3 and wait this round out.........

That's what I did when they announced the V4 delay.  Got a V3 3000 for
99 bux on ebay.
One thing I've seen is that the 2d performance is noticeably slower than
the TNT.  Still not bad just noticeable.  Didn't expect that.

They were pretty unimpressive, but wasn't that because T&L wasn't taken
advantage of?

T&L already is coded into just about every 3D game.  However, leveraging the
use of hardware accelerated T&L does take some extra support work.

At this point no.  DirectX7 just came out and it supports T&L in hardware.
Also believe OpenGL may do so too.  T&L will catch on and very quickly as it
really frees to computer's CPU up to do other things like physics in GPL or
better AI routines, etc.

However, as a point in case neither the Naplam or ATI's latest part will
support T&L, so I think the GeForce may not be a great choice given the
price at this time.

how do you "notice" 2d performance........ the 2d speed of any card today is so
fast i dont understand what you could be running to "see" the 2d speed, unless
you are just getting numbers off benchmarks
Everyone else has told me that the V3 has a faster 2d part than the TNT
anyways, though the difference is very slight.....

I am not exactly sure of when things get taken advantage of or not with
T&L....
From what i have been reading (of course it could be wrong) is that Dx7 and
OpenGL support it.......and i thought that Q3(Test) had it coded in.

on the other hand I read something that the "fill rates" that Nvidia have
been claiming for the GSpotForce are really only valid for cards with "DDR"
memory or something like that......and that few if any of the cards that
will be released will have this memory

Oh yea.....
I forgot to add.......
Yes they are pretty unimpressive benchmarks, but again to paraphrase PD "buy
hardware to run the software, not the other way around"

Good luck trying to get F4 coded to support T&L, or many of your other
favorite games that are already out.  For me to update my vid card it would
take something to knock my socks off even without taking advantage of T&L.

Ok, I should have mentioned this earlier.  On the desktop there's no
difference that I can tell, and I haven't used any benchmarks.  What I
have noticed in Falcon 4's map interface is that when I click and drag
the map around, the movement is noticeably slower than it was with the
TNT.  Also I get the "blocky movement" that I didn't get with the TNT.
That is, when dragging the map it moves in sections or blocks.

Overall, I'm very happy with the card.  Performance in Glide is much
better than my V2.  Go figure.  ;-)
