GPSAVES - Need help identifying files

In Grand Prix 3/GPSAVES there are .CSH, .CSI, .HLH, .HLK, .HLG, .RAH, etc.
Can someone please tell me why so many file extensions?  Hotlaps seem to use
.HLH and .HLK, setups seem to use .CSH and .CLK...  What's the difference?

Any assistance would be appreciated!
