What's the default replay size for a GPL or N2002 server if you don't modify
the replay override variable?  I can't remember where I read that before...
Thanks.

32 mb. seem to ring a bell -  but I'm not sure...
Anyway, it cant hurt to set the relpay-buffer on any machine so  - does it
really matter what the default is?

Where is that setting, and what do you recommend it's size should be?

When run as a dedicated server N4 and NR2002 default to only allocating
a minimum 512KB for replay.  You'll obviously want to override that if
you plan to save any useable amount replay from a dedicated server.  I
don't believe GPL did this, so it should allocate the same amount that
it would as a client (which would be some percentage of your available
system memory).

Depends upon how much ram you got David...

I got 384 mb in my Win98Se system and the replay buffer is set to [checking]
128 mb (128000 kb) in my Core.ini file.

"replayMemoryOverride=128000              ; Kbytes of replay memory to use"

Not to be picky, but that's only 125MB (1MB is 1024KB).

I have 384 too. I just checked my core.ini and it says that the default
setting is 0 which has me a little confused. What exactly does this the
replayMemoryOverride do, and how does setting it to 128000 give better
performance? I once read a description of what it did, but I guess I've
forgotten.

It tells N2002 to allocate more (or more precicely X kb) memory to
replays...  Thus allowing you to save longer replays.

Using the default value of zero turns off the override and lets the game
decide how much memory to allocate based on the amount of free system
memory it detects.  If you feel the game is being too conservative and
not giving you enough replay length, you can use this core.ini line to
override the game's auto-detection and force it to use a specific
amount.

Eric,

Would it be possible for you to provide details of NRS2002's required memory
(i.e. footprint) for those of us with more memory (and money) than sense?,
as I'd like to over-ride the replay value, but not at the cost of general
performance, of course I'll understand if that's neither practical or
possible but I seem to recall a figure being available for GPL specifically
for that purpose at one time.

Vennt.
