VROC: Driving School suggestion

This is sort of a general request for some of the "better" GPL drivers
to offer their services to us struggling pilots.  I was thinking it
would be nice to have VROC sessions dedicated to teaching ways to tackle
the courses along with setup tips.

One could setup long practice sessions with a couple of driving
instructors to help rookie drivers in their quest to conquering GPL.
Sessions could be limited to a 1 instructor to 2 pupils.

Once I get my ADSL installed (hopefully 11/17), I am willing to offer as
a host, if we can get some instructors lined up.

For example, the instructor can drive the course, while the students
watch from the live feed.  Then the instructor can use chat to impart
their gems of wisdom.  Next the pupils go out and the instructor watches
their performance and gives them some feedback.

Once the pupils get used to the track and the feel of the car, the next
step would be setup advise.

Any takers?  Any other suggestions?

Sounds like a very good idea to me, too.

Especially nice is the ability to watch a live feed; only problem is
that communictions are broadcast to everyone and there is no way to have
a private chat.

Maybe something like Battlefield Communicator would work in the
background for actual voice comms to instructors.  I will have to give
it a try.

Cheers,
Gian Vitzthum.

I don't know what Battlefield Communicator is, but there's a new voice
utility called "Roger Wilco" that's in open beta at the moment. It
supports up to ten simulataneous users on a voice conference, and will
probably work with GPL. I use it with the multiplayer online sim
WarBirds, and it works great.

Visit  http://www.resounding.com  for info on Roger Wilco.

Great idea!

I'm all for it....

I'm very involved now in painting and editing GPL...
I'll upgrade my PC and get a cable connection somewhere in december.
For those reasons, I played GPL 3 nights only so far..     :-(

After my upgrades, I'll practice more to improve(I'm currently running the
Glen in 1:07's and Monza in 1:30's in a Ferrari)
Then, I'm willing to help coaching or hosting.
I've raced in a few series, and teached some drivers, plus the driver I'm
currently helping out in his racing career, could probably assist us during
the lessons.
He's the Chief Instructor at the Jim Russell School and will probably race in
the Formula Atlantic series next year(if we finalize our promotionnal
proposals with potential Sponsors....)

I'll only be ready during the end of december though.....

Cheers!

Battlefield Communicator is a utility which provides real-time voice
communications for multiplayer games over the Internet and local
area networks.  The current version supports up to 15 players and
a future version will extend this.

I'll keep from rambling on about features and sounding like an
adverti***t.  Drop by our website and check it out.

If anyone has questions, I'd be more then happy to answer them.

Version 1.0 of the software was released just last week, ending
a public beta which involved more then 9000 users.  A demo
version is available from our web-site:

I saw both of these programs advertised within a week of each other
the other week - and to me they both appear to be identical. Reminds
me of Hollywood movies where several movies of nearly identical plot
and content come out at once:)

I too will spare you a blow by blow feature comparison,
but the products do differ. Significantly, in the week you
heard these announcements, Battlefield Communicator
was announcing the release of version 1.0 and the end
of its beta period. Our competitor was announcing their
very first beta. Battlefield Communicator is a more
mature product.

Might I also suggest attempting to use the voice programs like
Battlefield Commander or Roger Wilco.  These allow for real time
voice  between several users at once.  Especially for a training
enviroment...these could be very intrumental.

Do you not think GPL saturates the bandwidth enough anyway - use of a voice
program might create so many warping problems that beginners find it much
harder! It would be nice to find out though.
