Is there a patch for NR1999 to add the stripe to the walls at
Darlington.  They just don't look right when they are white.

Thank You,

Patrick Shumar

Race with me.  I'll do it for you naturally :)

I SUCK at Darlington.  I can't believe this decrepit, no-grove, worn out
old racetrack is still on the Nascar lineup.

But, that's just MHO :)

I only wish I could race at Darlingon. I get the green flag and after
100 yards.....Bam back to Windows 98 desktop. It really kills my points
race......

First off: I thought the "Darlington Stripe" was the black
mark the track put on the CAR when it hit a wall?
Second: sounds like Tony's got a corrupted track file.  I'd
try recopying Darlington's files.  Has that track EVER worked for ya,
Tony?

No thats a rookie stripe and they have to have it at all events during their rookie
year.

I think this term refers to the "white" stripe on the race car from the
contrete off the walls on the race car that scrapes the outside wall.

Correct answer.

The term comes from waaaay back when the there were steel guard rails.
I've seen video footage where the 60's era cars were actually rubbing
along (at speed) the curve guard rails... and motor-on... all in a day's
work.

The Darlington Stripe is the tire marks on the wall from cars rubbing them.
The track crew repaints the wall the week of an event.  By the time Busch/WC
practice is over, the stripe is back.

Yeah, that's what I meant.  Just didn't realize it was white
instead of black.  Cool.  Good to know I was right about some trivia
for once!

The Darlington stripe was a mark left on the cars back before there were
concrete walls. They used armco steel railings and some (but not all) of
the best drivers learned to lean on the rail coming out of turn 4. The
resulting mark (and crease in the fender) was known as the "Darlington
Stripe" and it seemed that no car in the winner's circle was without
one. If you see any of the old races on Speedvision you will notice that
the rail actually flexes when the cars lean on it.
