Here is the problem.  I have been using a serial LWFF for more than a
year on two different computers.  Recently built a TBird 1.1Ghz, ABIT
KT7-RAID, 256M 133 ram, sound card not presently installed.  First,
wingman software would not install, it would lock system up when it
tried to detect the wheel.  Downloaded V3.62 of profiler software and
Microsoft installer.  Now software installs and computer does not lock
up, but I cant get it to detect the wheel on the serial port.  Deez izz
gettin s***keeeng old......

I built almost exactly the same system a few months ago (1GHz T-bird
though), and I ran into a lot of headaches because Logitech didn't mention
the Microsoft installer issue at first.  However, after I got that fixed,
it's worked pretty flawlessly.

Biggest question is - why are you using Serial rather than USB?  Have you
tried USB?

Thanks for the response.  I am not using USB because my wheel did not
have a USB connecter when I purchased it.  I am assuming now from
reading posts here that I can simply buy an adapter that will allow the
serial connector to plug into the USB port? (I know this is a dumb
question, but then again, I have built several systems and never
experienced the problems I am having now)  Is this correct?  I guess
this is what I should try next, because I have already installed the
3.62 software and the Microsoft installer.

You should be able to find a Serial to USB adapter (don't know where, but
they should be available) - my LWFF came with one, but some aparently
didn't.
