N3 problem..... rather big one, too

I was wondering if this happened to anyone else.

Late last night I was in a 50% length race at Texas, and on my first pit
stop I decided to save the race and resume later.
Then this morning, when I start the race again, after my pit crew finishes
their work (right sides and fuel) and I complete a lap the crew chief yells
for me to bring 'er in cause I'm low on fuel.
I hit F3, and there it says my fuel is at 0.6!!!

I checked the manual in case there were changes made for N3, but it says on
p. 34:
"Each time you pit the crew will automatically fill the tank completely,
etc..."
And no, I didn't adjust the fuel level down with the [<] key.

I tried leaving the race without saving, then coming back in, but the same
thing happened.
Any ideas on what could've caused this?

I never heard of this being a problem with N99 or the N2 save-game patch,
but it is possible that saving game while you are in the pit taking service
gets confused - the fuel might not be adjusted until the end of the pit
stop, but save game doesn't try to restore you into the middle of pit
service.

I'll ask testing to review this at Papy, but until there's a confirmation
one way or another, I suspect you might want to either save game just before
you enter pit stall, or wait until after you get the "go go go" message.

Thanx for looking into it.  I'm kind of hoping it was just something dumb
that happened by chance that I'll probably never see again.
But in case it isn't, I'll take your advice on saving just before my pit
stop.
