There is a 1989 game, Indy 500: the simulation. EGA graphics, no
texturing, Indy Month of May type stuff only. 1993 saw the release of
IndyCar Racing, one of the first of the "modern era" of games
(textures and realtime 3D) There was an Indianapolis track add-on
released for that game, which is currently the only way to race on
Indy in a modern-era sim.
Papyrus no longer has the rights to produce products incorporating the
Indy track, and we have sold out of existing stock of this track
add-on. Last I heard, some people in the U.K. claimed that *** (our
distributor at that time) still had some for sale, but that's now
secondhand information that's many months old, so I can't say I'd get
my hopes up too high.
