% out of environment space - seems like I heard this problem discussed
% here before but I'm not sure.
% I'm getting this error now when trying to load indyfast from within
% Win95. I get the RR screen, then the pixel dust at the top of the
% screen. The game loads and the sound plays, but you never get the game
% video. Seems like it used to work, could it be the bios? nasrend -dma
% works fine, although it thrashes the HD a bit on startup.
% oh btw, p133 at 166 via 2x 83mhz, Intense 3D 100, 32 megs 60ns EDO.
% Win95 4.00.950a
As far as I know, no one has been able to get indyfast to work in a
Win95 DOS box. However, indysafe will work.
Regarding environment space: If you do not specify a specific amount of
space reserved for your shell in your config.sys file, you will need to
reserve some space for the variables indyfast needs to create. This is
done in the pif/memory setting (intitial environment). To set aside
enough memory via the config.sys file add the following line:
SHELL=c:\command.com c:\ /p /e:512
Where e:512 is the number of bytes you want reserved for the shell
environment. Note, the above line assumes that there is a copy of
command.com in the root directory of the C: drive.
