The first part of the track is somewhat like it, but you lose it after, at
best, the 5th turn. The indy track has a lot more turns at the front part,
and a lot less at the end. It is basically (VERY BASICALLY) an oval.
The only thing that would make this track fairly easy to replicate is
the fact that this is a blue print of the track, so not much guessing would
be required.

10 minutes..just a shade over.  You want a hill climb or just a fast drive
up a shallow grade????

I don't think 1 in 6 is *that* shallow! They're two different events,
really, though. This argument (yeah, I know, I started it) is like
comparing a tarmac rally stage with a drag race.

That's where I was headed next....all this talk of PP got me thinking, how
would a modern WRC car do running up that?  Since the fastest rigs are like
hybrid car/trucks...I wonder if Rallye cars would be competitive.  Now I'll
have to start digging through finishing results to see if anyone has taken a
Rallye car to PP.

I think Norwegian Rally Cross legend Martin Schanche used to take his
HP monster to PP some ten years ago. Not a Rally car though, but related.

No idea, but I can tell you that the closed-car record at Shelsley is
held by Tom Hammonds' Audi Sports S1 Quattro (generally known as the
"whistling Audi") at 28.58s (cf Graeme Wight Jr's outright record of
25.28s in a single-seater). Hannu Mikkola once went up the hill in much
the same car, but sadly it was too long ago for me to have seen it -
I'd have loved to have been there!

I think Michele Mouton set an overall record about ten years ago in the Audi
Quattro Sport.  Since then the cars contesting the unlimited crown are more
like prototype sports cars, lots of ground effects and such.
