We know that you Aussies sometimes feel a bit left out (Kiwi's too),
due to the radical time difference as it relates to North America and
Europe. We want you to know that we do provide ADC-style racing for
you guys.
We run our events on Sunday evenings at 8:00pm Brisbane/Melbourne/
Sydney, 7:30pm Adelaide. We hold the events at this time because this
10:00 GMT hour also makes it possible for the European Division
members to attend if they so choose, in an attempt to increase the
field size.
So what is the ADC, if you don't know already? We've been a fixture in
the GPL community for seven years now, and we are one of the most
diverse groups in the community, with active members from seven***
countries world-wide. The ADC is a club, not a league. There are no
points awarded or championship standings kept but we will post race
results in the ADC forums so everyone can have bragging rights at some
point or another. The primary emphasis is on having fun and enjoying
the camaraderie of your fellow racers. All racers are expected to
drive in a gentlemanly, courteous manner; not a win-at-all-costs
mentality. You don't have to be fast, but you have to be aware of your
surroundings and fellow competitors at all times. As we don't keep
standings, you aren't required to attend every race; just show up when
you can, with no added pressure. It's all about having fun in a
familiar, behaved environment.
Car restrictions based on GPL Rank are established to help equalize
the fields. We run the 65 Mod, 67 Original, and 69 Mod on a weekly
rotating basis, and we will add the 66's into the mix immediately upon
their release. We have a large, varied track list comprised of the
original Papy eleven tracks, plus 23 of the finest add-on venues.
Those of you that are familiar with the Australian GPL scene may
recognize the name Paul Smith, as Paul is one of the premier GPL
racers from Down Under. He is very quick, but is also one of the
classiest guys to battle with on-track. Paul is also a Charter member
of the ADC, and after a bit of a layoff is now back racing with us. I
am very pleased to report that he has graciously accepted an
appointment to the position of Australian Division Director. So
without question the Division is now in very capable hands.
