Nascar wheel for about a year. In truth I have nothing to do with it, but I
was there to witness the birth along with father John, midwife Eldred,
Dave, Jan, Joachim, ZZ, Tom Pabst and others:

At the time I requested some GPL races for the non Nascar lovers, since
then some experiments have been made with other products with limited
success due to the net code issues with those products.
With the Trans Am patch, the chance for road racers like me to hook up with
my RAS club members and have some good clean racing seems a real
possibility.
I am not going to dwell on the rights or wrongs of recent events - I think
that has been done to death on here. From a selfish point of view I want
the concept of Rascar to survive. By now I had hoped it would have reached
a maturity that Trans Am races and perhaps later GPL '65 mod races could be
organised within the framework without a major admin burden to make it
happen.
The concept of Rascar was to be racing with the people we have come to know
over the many years and avoid the anonymous wreckers on the open servers.
Perhaps it is naive to think that a group thrown together in a newsgroup
can get along and the perception of a community spirit is just a
perception, but for the concept to survive the personal differences have to
be put aside.
One of the downsides of newsgroups is the way arguments become so public
that they degenerate from mild to extreme in next to no time, coming back
from the extremities is going to be somewhat difficult.
It would be a shame to split up Rascar into groups as this defeats the
concept. It has survived some "incidents" before, can we survive this one?
Cheers
Tony
