Homemade Steering Wheel

Any expert here can tell me whether a cam system should be used for the
steering wheel's pot to create progressively sensitive steering.
Is there a need for it at all since I find that most joystick are too
sensitive just out from the centre position.
I'm breaking apart a gravis joystick and going from there.

I was thinking of using a Gravis Joystick as well.  Let me know how it
works for you!

I Ken!

We have designed our own Steering Wheel and Pedals for use with many
games (at least IndyCar and World Circuit). I think you're facing the
same problem than we've had, finding the right pots value. We tryed many
of them (not too many cause we didn't want to break the computer) but
found out that a 200K linear should be ok.

Don't expect to have a great realistic feedback in World Circuit. We
never found a way to use the No Steering Help feature. (I think it was
made to deal with joysticks).

We are not over yet with our tests, and we expect to post the full plan
or our system on the net in a few months.

Any out there who are interested, let me know!
