Toca2 Internet racing

I tried Toca2 multiplayer over the internet for the first time and ran
into a couple of annoyances.
Once the other player joined the game, it took forever for the "start
race" button to light up so we could start.  Also, once the race was
over, the "change track.../OK/abandon race" menu would hang for a long
time before letting me make a selection.

Does this happen to everyone?  Will it be "fixed" in the patch?

I was hosting on a cable modem, but the other guy had one of those
worthless winmodems, which may have contributed some his car jumping
around a bit. However, I wouldn't think it would affect menu selections,
etc. that don't require much cpu overhead.
