Just started using N2 at a friend's house.  He has the thrustmaster
wheel/peddles.  Thinking about making the purchase myself thoughth I get more
done at home with the set up at friend's house.

We've been practicing at Michigan in the realistic mode and not sure what to
look for other than a fast lap.  Jeff Gordon's lap is 38 something.  We found
several setups on the web that others have developed and tried them all as a
starting place.  Problem is neither of us can run under a 42 second lap.  That
sucks.  And I understand Michigan is one of the easier tracks to run.

I've seen suggestions on the web about how to run the lines etc but one detail
I've not seen is exactly what a person does to turn those fast laps.  So I'm
not sure what I'm shooting for yet.  To be specific-I know the lap has to be
smooth at any track but at Michigan (only track I've been on) do the tires
squeal around the turns?  Mine do at 160-164 mph and I have no hope of 170
plus in the turns.  I'll hit the wall everytime.  Maybe they're suppose to
squeal?  Do any of you brake while keeping the accelerator to the floor?  In
words I'm looking for what is the general approach.  When do you get out of
the gas?

Practice, practice, practice I hear but all that gives me is a consistant 42
second lap.  I think we're missing a fundamental or two.

Would appreciate any suggestions you may have in general.

Also make sure you have shifting, steering, and braking help off.

If you have a hard squeal you either need to slow down just a tad, or a bit of
a different line-- plus work on setup.  A slight squeal is OK and means your
doin fast laps as long as your not going so fast as to push up into the wall as
you exit the turn.  Hard squeal deffinatly means something isn't right.  Also I
found that reducing my steering lock helps a great deal.

I usually lift as I enter the turn then gradually add gas untill the middle
then nail it.  I don't use the brake at mich unless it's an emergency.

These are all just my opinions, everyone has different styles and approaches.
I fyou and your buddy are planning on using the same setups-- good luck! My
racin buddy and I have been doin this since day 1 and we can't use either's
setups.  They are good setups for "US"  but not for the other.  we drive just
slightly different.

well good luck and hang in there!!!
