DTR2 Wheel problems...

by Race15 » Tue, 15 Oct 2002 05:28:16

Just once I would like to buy a sim that loads without a freaking hitch!  Just
received the new DTR2 for my birthday, loaded it up and went to the options
screen to calibrate my wheel and assign the various needs.  Of course,
everytime I select an option, ie Turn Left - it automatically selects axis 4
<.....for everything I try!

Just so goshdarned peeved.  It's not like I have some *** pc, just a Dell P3
600 - 256 ram - Radeon vid card.  And the wheel ain't exactly top O' the shelf
either.  Wingman (non ff) formula (yellow) with the act-labs pedals.  I went
back out to the control panel and re-calibrated everything from there and still
won't allow me to use the wheel.

No wonder I keep going back to GPL.

Thanks
Michael

I had to calibrate first - then did assignments.  Worked like a charm even on my
funky setup.  I've got TSW2 pedals wired to my Momo.  Pedal travel is only
halfway on the Momo calibration screen and backwards (split axis).  DTR2 didn't
even see my wheel until I went into calibration.  Then everything was a breeze.

There are only a handful of titles that can do this - at least for me.  Hats off
to Ratbag.  This title is a blast - and quite a surprise for me.

damn what wheel do you have? I have never even heard of a problem with the
controller setup in a DTR game. I'd rank there controller setup second only
to Papy. It sounds like to me you have an axis that is "stuck" on. I had a
similar problem when I tried to set up a game pad once that had a throttle
slider. the slider was to one side so the axis always was grabbed by the
game setup.

Can you calibrate *first*?  It sounds like the game is reading an input before
you WANT it to, like it's jittering or something...
Maybe re-cal in windows, then try the game.

Also, if you have a wheel and a stick hooked up it will look at it as one
big controller with 7 or 8 axis.  I have to go ahead and move all
controllers through thier whole range when I calibrate in a game.  This
keeps one axis from jumping around (as far as the game sees it) and having
itself assigned to just about everything.

DTR2 Wheel problems...

Okay, looks as though the "Axis Four" is jittering in calibration.  Can't get
it to stop.  I have re-calibrated in windows/ control panel / both wheel and
act labs pedals, but nothing changes.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks again,
Michael
