Yeah, I posted this in my thread above as well. Best article I've
read, Mr. McLaughlin should be commended for having the balls to write
what no one else would.

He should be commended for having balls, but I still disagree with his
knee-jerk reaction to safety issues.

I forgot to add that everyone is writing about the safety issues, televised
media keep egging on interviewees to say something like "DE would've lived
if only he had Hans or if only there were soft walls or if only we didn't
have aero strips and restrictor plates."  So maybe he isn't the warning
beacon you think he is.  Did you watch the CNN 3pm EST report?  The
announcer kept asking the same questions about safety, and not one response
from anyone outside of the call-in viewers and emailers thought that
anything would've prevented this death.  Not even the doctor on the scene.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is "restrictor plate racing"?

In 2 NASCAR races (Daytona and Talledega), it was decided that the speeds
were getting out of hand due to the track configuration. Both tracks were
considered too dangerous (by NASCAR officials). The solution was to lower
speeds thru a restrictor plate (limiting engine power). These 2 tracks have
since become famous for 'drafting' , since everyone just runs around the
track at full throttle.
Just a simple answer, I am sure others can provide more detailed info.

I don't see how canceling Futurama would have made anything better.
If you "can't stop crying long enough to compose my thoughts", you
better wait until you can.

I believe the restrictor plate sits between the carburetor and intake
manifold and limits air flow into the engine and thus HP.
