1nsane 4x4 game and Athlon 900 problem?

I have a Duron 900 and an Athlon 900

On my Duron (256 megs ram and voodoo 3/3000) there are NO pauses when
playing 1nsane!

However on my Thunderbird 900 (256 megs and 32 meg geforce 256) it
pauses for a split second (more like a glitch) whenever I'm in the
heat of a race!  I've defraged the hard drive and even reinstalled the
game.  What could be the problem???  I also have two hard drives.  I
have the game in the second drive and even copied it to the first
drive, but I see not difference.
