Well this is the "Stupidest" thing I've read in the Burnout vs NHRA debate
yet, but thats ok you keep waiting for NHRA and we'll keep having a great time
with Burnout.

You wouldn't like the online playing anyway as you would be constantly going
away a loser, because the lack of a***pit is so detrimental to setting up
a race car, which is what Burnout is about.

The whole debate is dumb anyhow, No1 there is more than enough room for
two good drag sims, 2 Bethesda is adding a***pit, 3 Online play isnt a
number one priority with most players anyhow.

I plan to buy both sims as soon as Bethesda has fixed the bugs and I
plan to enjoy them both, regardless of online play.

This has been my view and quite a few others as well. I intend to get NHRA
as soon as it hit the shelves. Both sims will sit nice together on the
hardrive and will get quite a bit of use!

Not really. Grrrr ;-)

Seriously, I want a good drag racing game, and yes Burnout is coming pretty
close of it, and I know with a***pit view it will be a good drag simulator
for me.

If it's NHRA, well good for them.  Especially since I think it's optimized
for the Riva128.  And no, don't tell me go buy a 3dfx card because I don't
care about voodoo cards for the moment. My racing simulators are perfect
with a Rendition + STB Velocity 128.

I just don't understand how Burnout can have 5fps in VGA with every graphics
Off, on my PII 266 and STB V128 agp.   It's drag racing, doesn't involve
complex graphics and normal game engine calculation (compared to my 25fps in
N2 in SVGA with all graphics).

Bingo this is mine also. Looks like people think I'm dumb because I prefer
realism than multiplayer racing.  Oh well it's probably because of my name.
You know... <g>

Like I said I want a good drag simulator.  I think that a***pit is a
priority higher than online racing for a simulator.  I can have a blast
against the AI for drag racing, but for other types of racing I will prefer
humans (NROS).  I'm happy that they decided to add a***pit to Burnout, so
when it's out I will retry it.

Bingo Trev.  I want to enjoy Burnout presently, but without a***pit there
is no realism for me, I rather get some blast into Papyrus's simulators
instead and wait.  I will change it not long.  But for the poor performance
in non-3dfx, this is entirely Bethsoft's fault.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, for those of us with Voodoo's 1 or 2
the majority of software companies have decided that it will be the card of
choice in most instances. With D3D or whatever supporting the rest. In
talking with coders at several companies, they are much easier to work with
than some of the other cards. And they just don't have the manpower or
dollars to spend writing for every 3d card on the market.
As far as the software version I agree it should run better but I haven't
spent any time playing with it to know why it is so slow. I can't say
whether this
is being addressed in Bethesda's patch as I haven't seen any posts in this
regard. Perhaps one of the beta testers is aware of it specifically. It may
also have to do with which of the 2 cards you are using to run it. If it is
the AGP
card perhaps there is a problem with that card. As it is my understanding
that
unless you are running out of Win NT the AGP can't be used to any
advantage,
plus if I'm not mistaken it must be coded to use it. These are only guesses
on my
part in this regard.
By the way with my O.C. 233mmx(262.5mhz) I get 100 fps with a Voodoo 2
card.

Guys:

I have owned and I have driven a FUNNY CAR.  Its wasnt Nitro and
its wasn't blown, but it was INJECTED and it had this big ass manifold
about the same size as a blower.  You think its nice driving a funny car
your crazy.  You are setting in the back seat and you have this big ass
manifold in the middle of the car.  You have this little stinking area
about 1 foot square to look out.  You dont look around or side to
side you just look way the hell out and point.  For all those who
have asked for a***pit view it will be interesting to see the
implemenation by both BETHESDA and TANTRUM and than
see if any one uses it.  I cant wait until these companies add tire
shake so you cant see the guages.  See the guages.. Give me
a break.   You look at the guages four  times.  Once before you
burn-out and after !!!  And  Once before you stage and once
after you have staged...

I can just see it now.. .TIRE SHAKE..  Lets move those
guages about 2 inches and lets move that window view about
4 inches at about 1500  times a second.   That is realism...

BRENT, it would sort of look like the MPLAYER LOGO when you
log in.... hehe

Julian, you got some input here bud!!!!

Yes I was part of CIFCA in California!!!!   It wasnt a fast funny
car, but it was cheap..  7.90's and 225mph.   But that was 10

Well Don, I understand that this is the way it was twenty years ago,
but nowadays Top Fuel dragsters have the motor in the rear (behind the
driver) so this is not an issue.

True,.........but funny cars are still front engine rides, as are pro
mods, pro stocks, super stocks,...etc. Try looking around a tunnel ram
hood scoop sometime!

Don, FYI "NHRA Drag Racing" models tire shake and a whole lot of other
things. Yes the view from the***pit is restricted as it is in real
life but IMO it still needs to be there.

Since bethesda has promised to add a***pit view and fix some of the
unrealisticly fast times run by ordinary cars, I think they are on the
right track also.

I dont see a problem with having two different types of drag sims as
long as they are equally realistic.

Don, all this is true 100% and that is perfect. I want the most realistic
***pit possible. You know tiny little screen, check your gauges at start,
do your bur-nout (while the screen shakes like hell), check your gauge at
the start, wait for the start, and boom! hit the gass.  I want the screen to
shake like HELL (I'm sooo sure it's a smooth ride ;-)   ).   Gauges who
aren't readable, since you shake so much they look blurry.

If only that, I am in heaven !! Burnout the Drag simulator (not the Drag
game).

Francoise,

If this is what you want then "NHRA Drag Racing" will make you happy,
all of that is in there along with engine blowups where the car is full
of smoke and flame at 200+ MPH and a whole lot of other goodies, this is
a SERIOUS sim :)!

Thanks for the information.  I want a good drag game, and with the good
things I hear from NHRA and the upcoming patches for Burnout, my "dream" may
come true.

Btw, I heard it would be accelerated for Riva chips ? Is it true ?
